Legal

Privacy policy.

How Skoon Water Filtration collects, uses and protects your personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Skoon Water Filtration ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, how we look after it and what choices you have. It applies to visitors, customers and enquirers.

Who is responsible for your information

Skoon Water Filtration is the responsible party for the personal information processed through this website. You can reach our information officer at Skoon@skoonwater.co.za or +27826519702. Our registered company details and physical address are available on request.

What we collect

  • Contact details you give us — name, email address, telephone number and, where relevant, company name.
  • Delivery and site details — street address, suburb, city, province and postal code, so we can quote delivery and confirm installation coverage.
  • Order and enquiry content — the products you request, whether you want installation, and any notes you send us.
  • Water-assessment information you choose to share, such as your water source or symptoms you are experiencing.
  • Basic technical data your browser sends automatically, such as IP address and pages viewed, used to keep the site secure and working.

We do not collect card or banking details on this website. Orders placed here are requests to order; payment is arranged separately once we have confirmed availability and pricing.

Why we process it

  • To respond to your enquiry, quote, and confirm delivery or installation.
  • To process and fulfil orders, including courier delivery and scheduling of installation or servicing.
  • To keep records required for tax, accounting and warranty purposes.
  • To improve the website, our products and our service.
  • To send service-related communication about an order you have placed.

We rely on your consent, the performance of a contract with you, our legitimate interests in running the business, and our legal obligations, as the circumstances require. We do not send marketing email unless you have asked for it, and every marketing message includes an unsubscribe option.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only where it is needed to deliver our service: couriers and installation technicians for fulfilment, our hosting and database providers for secure storage, our email provider for order confirmations, and our accountants or advisers where required by law. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Some of these providers process data outside South Africa. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure the recipient is bound to a level of protection comparable to POPIA.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are retained for up to 24 months so we can pick up a conversation where it left off. Order records, invoices and warranty records are retained for at least five years, as required by South African tax and company law. After that, information is deleted or anonymised.

How we protect it

Information submitted through this site is transmitted over an encrypted connection and stored in an access-controlled database. Access is limited to staff who need it to do their work. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

Your rights

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy.
  • Ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant or out of date.
  • Object to processing, or withdraw consent you have given, at any time.
  • Ask us not to use your details for direct marketing.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

To exercise any of these, email Skoon@skoonwater.co.za. We will respond within a reasonable time and may ask you to verify your identity first. You may also submit a formal request under the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) using the request link in our footer.

Cookies

This site uses only the cookies and local storage needed to make it work — for example, keeping your cart contents between pages and keeping staff signed in to the admin area. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, though the cart may then not remember your selections.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or the law change. The current version always appears on this page, with the date it was last updated.
